The orders of magnetic material enterprises were less, and the exports of rare earth permanent magnets fell month on month in June

Published:2022/07/26

In June, China's exports of rare earth permanent magnets were 4692 tons, down 3.77% month on month, with a year-on-year increase of 11.25%; The export unit price was US $81.9/kg, a month on month decrease of 1.5% and a year-on-year increase of 46.9%.

Affected by domestic and foreign epidemics, the general environment and other factors, the demand for rare earth downstream industry chain is weak. The downstream consumption fields of rare earth mainly include new energy vehicles, wind power generation, consumer electronics, energy-saving elevators, variable frequency air conditioners, etc. In June, the production and sales of new energy vehicles increased month on month, and the demand increased. The demand for rare earth permanent magnets in other fields is weak. The order volume of some magnetic material enterprises decreased, and the start-up fell.

Compared with may, overseas orders of rare earth permanent magnets decreased as a whole. The top three countries in the export volume of rare earth permanent magnets are Germany, South Korea and the United States, accounting for 15%, 15% and 13% respectively. The export volume is 689 tons, 660 tons and 597 tons respectively, and the month on month growth rate is -9.5%, 25.4% and -4.7% respectively. Overseas dependence on China's rare earth permanent magnet is relatively high. At present, the epidemic is normalized, and foreign countries have successively entered the summer vacation. The overall order volume of foreign countries has decreased slightly month on month, but there is still an increase year on year.

In April, the export volume of praseodymium and neodymium metal was only 32 tons, down 20% month on month, and the export volume of praseodymium and neodymium oxide was nearly 40 tons, up 82% month on month. The export direction of praseodymium and neodymium oxide and praseodymium and neodymium metals is mostly Japan. Compared with rare earth permanent magnet, the export volume of upstream main production raw materials such as praseodymium and neodymium oxide and praseodymium and neodymium metal is relatively small. Due to the imperfect overseas rare earth industry chain, although there are many projects under construction, the development environment is relatively complex and the promotion speed is slow. At present, the dependence on China's rare earth permanent magnet is still very high.

In June 2021, the monthly average price of praseodymium and neodymium, the main raw material of rare earth permanent magnet, was 580000 yuan / ton. By June 2022, the monthly average price of praseodymium and neodymium metal rose to 1.15 million yuan / ton, an increase of 98%. Affected by the sharp rise in raw material prices, the export unit price of rare earth permanent magnets increased significantly year-on-year.
