"700 million tons of reserves" rushed to the hot search, and the rare earth strategy should see further

Published:2022/07/07

Recently, Turkish media reported that 694million tons of rare earth element reserves were newly discovered in Turkey, which can meet the global demand for 1000 years. Turkey will also become the second largest rare earth reserve country after China. This news quickly appeared on the hot search on July 5, causing an uproar. The reason why this news quickly ferments in social media is that the market wants to find out how the newly proved reserves, if true, will affect the global rare earth price.

At present, it is unknown which rare earth elements are contained in Turkey's rare earth minerals, and Turkey does not have the supply capacity of rare earth smelting and separation products. Therefore, after confirming that there was no worry about the matter, market sentiment soon returned to normal. However, the author believes that this news is still worthy of close attention by the industry. Because with the progress of exploration technology, it is not ruled out that new rare earth minerals will be discovered in other countries. The huge impact brought by this news is the most typical example. We cannot be satisfied with being exporters of primary products. Instead, we should further expand the technological advantages of the upstream rare earth industry to the downstream industrial links, strengthen the innovative investment in the downstream high value-added material manufacturing of the rare earth industry, further improve the level of rare earth deep processing, and promote the agglomeration and balanced development of the whole industrial chain.
