Myanmar Resumes Exporting Rare Earths To China, And Rare Earth Prices May Decline in The Short Term

Published:2021/12/14

The reopening of the China Myanmar border and the resumption of Myanmar's export of rare earths to China are expected to ease the rise in China's rare earth prices. However, due to the government's carbon emission reduction, rare earth prices still seem to rise in the previous period.

The manager of a state-owned company in Dingzhou told the global times that the China Myanmar customs, which had been suspended for many months, was finally reopened at the end of November. Recently, there are many trucks transporting ore to Ganzhou. It is estimated that about 3000-4000 tons of ore are piled up in the customs.

According to thehindu COM, the two ports on the China Myanmar border were finally opened after a six-month suspension due to the epidemic. Experts said: at present, mines in southern China are heavily dependent on mines in Myanmar, and the timely resumption of border opening is in line with the common aspirations of the two peoples.

What do you think of the restoration of rare earth in Myanmar? Experts said: the price of rare earths has been rising since this year. The resumption of import of Myanmar minerals may lead to a downward trend in rare earth prices in the short term. However, because the demand side is still strong, rare earth prices still show an upward trend in the long run.
