Can the paint baking process be applied to NdFeB magnets?

Published:2022/06/15

Most of the common paint baking magnets are ferrite magnets. Is it feasible to add paint baking process on the basis of neodymium magnets?

It is necessary to talk about the temperature resistance of neodymium magnet. The maximum temperature resistance of neodymium magnet is 80-240 degrees. Once the temperature exceeds the limit, the magnet will inevitably demagnetize until it completely loses its magnetism, and may even be irreversible.

The paint baking process is usually divided into two categories:

One is low-temperature baking paint, with curing temperature of 140-180 degrees.

Second, high temperature baking paint, curing temperature at 280-400 degrees.

No matter what kind of paint baking process, the magnet needs to be heated. If neodymium magnet is used, it will be impossible to avoid the impact on magnetism. Therefore, it is not recommended to consider the paint baking process for NdFeB magnets.
