The magnet inside the motor has arc shape and square shape. What is the difference between them?

Published:2022/05/25

Magnets are usually built in all kinds of common permanent magnet motors, and motors with different requirements and models have different requirements for the shape of magnets. The most common are arc shape and square. So what is the difference between these two shapes of magnets in the motor?

The air tightness of arc magnet is better than that of square magnet. It can reduce the number of poles without changing the air gap, so as to improve the efficiency of motor under high-speed rotation.

Because the magnetizing surface of the square magnet is parallel, if the air gap remains unchanged, the number of poles cannot be equal to or less than the arc shape. In addition, there is little difference between arc magnet and square magnet.

What's the use of fewer polar logarithms?

For example, electric vehicle motors usually have built-in silicon steel stator. The higher the working frequency of the motor, the greater the iron loss will be. The reduction of pole pairs can effectively reduce the working frequency of silicon steel sheet and iron loss at the same speed. Therefore, arc magnet is usually preferred in the design and production of high-power motor.

Of course, the cost and production cycle of arc magnet are longer than that of square magnet. When the requirements are not high, many customers customize square magnet.

Our company specializes in producing motor magnets for 30 years. We can customize magnets of various sizes and shapes according to customer requirements. Welcome to contact us for inquiry!
