How to calculate the suction of NdFeB magnet?

Published:2022/04/21

Many customers often ask about the suction force of NdFeB strong magnet. How much is the suction force of NdFeB magnet (strong magnet) of certain specification? How is the suction of a magnet calculated? Can you tell me about the calculation formula of strong suction.

According to the Encyclopedia of powerful magnets: the magnetic force of NdFeB magnet itself is 640 times its own weight, that is to say, it can absorb 640 times its own weight. Under normal circumstances, NdFeB magnets can absorb objects 600 times their own weight. Because there are many specifications and shapes of NdFeB magnets, including magnets with holes and special-shaped magnets, which are directly related to suction and the calculation is more complex. Here we only list two simple specifications: round and square.

Example: square NdFeB magnet, brand: N35, specification: 30mmx15mmx5mm, magnet suction calculation formula: magnet Volume X density x600 (multiple)

1Magnet density: the density of N35 is about 7.5 g / cm3

2Magnet weight: Volume X density (30mmx15mmx5mm) x0 0075 = 16.875g III. magnet suction: 16.875x600 = 10125g

It can be seen that a 30mmx15mmx5mm square NdFeB magnet can absorb about 10.1kg of objects. Another example: 20mm * 5mm N35 NdFeB magnet

Suction = (10 radius * 10 radius * 3.14 * 5 thickness) volume * 0.0075 density * 600 times = 7065g (g), that is, a 20 * 5 N35 magnet can adsorb 7.065kg of objects.

If your magnet specifications are of these two specifications, you can directly apply the formula to calculate. It should be noted that the size unit is mm (mm), not this unit, which needs to be converted.

Of course, this is just a theoretical valuation, which may not be accurate, and I don't believe it. Accurate data must be obtained through practical experiments. Attached permanent magnet magnetic force calculation formula F = bllsin0

F is the magnetic field force, also known as ampere force, B is the magnetic induction intensity, l is the current in the conductor, l is the length of the conductor, and 0 is the angle between B and the conductor

Formula of magnetic field force of magnetic pole: F = MH, where m is the strength of magnetic pole and H is the strength of magnetic field. The strength of magnetic field generated by magnetic pole is inversely proportional to the third power of distance R.

The attraction of NdFeB magnet has a certain relationship with its volume, performance brand and distance. We can provide you with magnet product samples for your actual test!
