What is a second-class magnet? Why do second-class magnets appear?

Published:2022/04/06

In the production process of NdFeB products, there will be various losses and defective products. For products that do not affect the use, people in the industry call them second-class NdFeB magnets.

Introduction to the causes of Nd-Fe-B second-class magnets

1. Sintering

Due to improper operation of sintering workers. The performance will not meet the standard.

For example, the formula is n42, but when it is produced, it has only the performance of N38 after testing. This kind of blank product has become a second-class product. However, if customers only want the performance of N38, it will not affect its use.

2. Machining

Products have a tolerance requirement. If they exceed this tolerance, they will become second-class products.

For example, the wafer NdFeB magnet is 10 * 5 + 0.05mm, and the processed product becomes 10 * 4.9. At this time, this product is called second-class product.

For some users who do not have high tolerance requirements, + 0.1 tolerance, then the second-class products will become genuine products.

3. Nd-Fe-B electroplating

Users with high requirements for coating will have high requirements for coating and surface. That is, there is no defect, such as missing angle. On the contrary, it is called equal product, which does not affect its performance.

The price of second-class magnets will be lower than that of first-class products. Some customers can't accept such a high price and can only choose second-class products to use. Of course, some manufacturers have listed third-class magnets.
